These non-profits are the current beneficiaries of the 5% fund:

http://www.skateagainstdrugs.org

Skate Against Drugs is a youth drug prevention non-profit organization based in Los Angeles.  They establish athletic programs at community centers throughout Los Angeles and its surrounding cities and towns.  They also organize a series of drug awareness events held at elementary schools across the United States. Their goal is to put on visually stimulating and highly informative events that will inspire and motivate children to stay in school, set goals, participate in extracurricular activities and, most importantly, to empower them to remain drug-free.

Sundt’s mission is “to influence the hearts and minds of kids by inspiring them to live their natural high and to reject drugs.”  Through its creation and distribution of the Natural High Video Series to encourage youth to live drug free, “Natural High 2” was sent to every middle school and high school in the United States in 2005.  In September of 2007, Natural High 3 was distributed free of charge to every school in the country with a fifth grade and higher.

For more than thirty years, Youth Enrichment Services (YES) has been engaging urban kids in an experience that takes them places they’ve never been before, both mentally and physically.  YES teaches kids to “dare to try something new” and, in the process, inspires confidence and makes them believe they can accomplish anything.  With its highly successful outdoor and environmental education programs, YES provides kids with practical learning that is problem-focused and based on real-world experiences.

The Charles River Skatepark is a project of the Charles River Conservancy, whose goal is to construct a Skatepark on the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge, MA, under the loop ramps to the Zakim Bridge.  The Skatepark will be a much-needed venue for area skaters, BMX riders and inline skaters, who will have a place where they can safely and legally practice, exhibit and compete.

Riders Against Drugs is changing the general attitude of people toward drugs. This is accomplished by educating people on the harmful effects of drugs, so they can make a decision based on information that is neither hype nor rumor.

The Youth Arts Corps is a free youth development, arts education and job training program that uses the fine arts to help youth reach their potential. The Corps offers four after-school and summer arts education programs, provides arts activities at a number of residential, recreational and juvenile justice facilities in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Manatee counties in Florida, and offers training and technical assistance in youth arts program development and implementation.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-on-one relationships with mentors that have a positive impact on youth.  It is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States helping children ages 6 through 18 in communities across the United States.

For more than 25 years, the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) has been dedicated to nurturing and supporting young artists as they pursue their dreams.

NFAA provides support, education and recognition to high school seniors at a crucial time in their emerging careers.  By contacting every high school in the country, NFAA finds the year’s most talented artists and recognizes artistic excellence in all art forms, including music, dance, film, photography and theater, to name a few.

Just Think teaches young people to lead healthy, responsible, independent lives in a culture highly impacted by media.  Through its work, Just Think teaches young people to gain leadership skills, include their academic performance, acquire workplace tools and, most importantly, to think for themselves.
